Hello stranger,

Don’t be afraid. There are no horrible things in this article.

Background

One day, Jason taught us the methodology of Technology-Based Design,  and the assignment was to conceive an AR-based game. So I came up with this game The Haunting of Luigi’s Mansion, whose name came from a combination of a TV series –The Haunting and a Nintendo game – Luigi’s Mansion

VR vs AR

In China, AR technology is less applied to diverse industries or scenarios than VR. Meanwhile, our government aids innovation companies in developing VR applications, including aspects of games, education and business.  If I am not wrong, VR games are the first category that has become commercial. And now, VR businesses are evolving pretty fast with the stimulation of financial aid and long-term profits. Therefore, many business owners can reach a consensus on this topic.

However, except for Pokemon GO and The Machine, we seldom get to other apps or games based on AR, which has been proven as a new opportunity for applying creativity.

Game Overview

My AR idea is to combine the mechanisms from Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Maker since both have the same worldview. The elements in the two are very adorable, creative and attractive. Despite the fact that you are trying to avoid anything related to ghosts, you would love these funny creatures. Players can customize obstacles and goals in the game and make an extremely fantasy interior space in their real world. Wherever and whenever you are, Luigi’s Mansion will be “haunting” you.

Conclusion

If someone wants to implement this game with legal copyright, Nintendo is the only firm able to do that with resources and capabilities. If they produce one, I will definitely buy it. Furthermore, I will focus my skill sets on game design. And what’s in your brain?
