My impressions in Pre-MDM

Written by Taoan, 2021 Cohort

My Pre-MDM journey is coming to an end and I have to admit that I have learned a lot during those eight months. It meant a lot to me. At first, I thought this program was only for improving my English skills, but I was totally wrong.

In Jason’s class, I learned a more professional way of thinking and how professionals in the industry work. We also made prototypes with limited resources to express what we wanted to make without programmers and in the end, we conducted 360 meetings to discuss and collect learning points, reflect on what we could improve and thank our teammates for their work.

In Aida’s class, I learned pitch and presentation skills, which improved my speaking ability, as well as how to write a proper documentation to express  ideas clearly, and with our Journal Entry every week, the ones you have been reading on this blog, my writing skills improved, systematically. Besides, we  need to read a lot of materials fore class before writing, and my reading skills have improved, at the same time. I also learned a variety of technical  terminology in context. I feel that my English skills have improved a lot.

Going through the courses, not only did my English skills such as speaking and writing improve, but I also learned a lot of new skills, both soft skills in communication, presentations and hard skills outside of my field, like making app prototypes in Figma, or editing simple videos. Most of my classmates come from different backgrounds, we were a cross-fictional team, so I also learned a lot from them.

I would also like to mention that the new students should not be afraid of making mistakes when doing things that they are not familiar with. We can learn from mistakes as well as gain experience from other team mates.

I really appreciate Aida and Jason and all of my classmates, all kind and friendly, they have helped me thrive. I will never forget this eight months experience, it is definitely a treasure to keep in my memory, and has become a fundamental experience for the future.
