Time passes way too fast; now, it comes to the end of my pre-MDM journey. We are graduating within a month. I was here only six months, but it feels like I’ve been through a lot.
In September, I arrived past midnight and got to CDM around 2 am. So my first impression was a beautiful, well-designed, blueish-lighted building, a wonderful feeling. Unfortunately, I was already a week late and only had two days to get everything sorted. Thankfully, a friend drove from Seattle to help me buy all the necessities I needed; a car helps. With help from friends, the transaction went smoothly.
The next thing was to attend classes I was looking forward to, which were different from what I expected. They were more awesome than I thought! I used to have dull classes where the professor talked, and the students “nodded.” At CDM with Aida, we had intellectual lessons about Canadian culture, way of thinking, teamwork skills, things about digital media, etc. Thanks to Aida, we also had conversation clubs, social media writing boot camps, and field trips. With Jason’s lessons, we practiced teamwork skills and learned how to create stories and design products. At the same time, my English skills progressed through these well-designed lessons and activities. Of course, the pre-MDM program is not just an English-learning course; it’s the beginning of a new journey and eases me into Canadian life. If I had skipped the pre-MDM program and gone straight into the MDM program last year, I would have encountered many difficulties. I cannot imagine that I would have been able to pull it off without knowledge from pre-MDM.
During these six months, I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people, participating in many exciting events, and making friends. I also got to explore the beautiful Vancouver area. Thanks to the Digital Media Caucus staff, they host parties and other health events, and Aida picked stunning places for our field trips. I could see MOA, Steveston Cannery, Deep Cove, Salmon-run, etc.
It has been a pleasure to join the pre-MDM program and have these two amazing semesters. Thank you to my excellent teachers, Aida and Jason, my incredible classmates, C17s, and staff at the CDM. I’m now ready to take on the challenges of the MDM program and beyond. Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities!
