Ragnarök is here

God of War Ragnarök has been launched this week. I played it for several hours but have not finished yet, it is truly amazing. I’m here to express some of my feelings about God of War but do not worry, no spoilers.

First, allow me to refresh your memories; in God of War (2018), there are many big cliffhangers at the end of the game. The first is because Kratos killed Baldur, which triggered Fimbulwinter, leading to Ragnarök, the sequel’s subtitle. We also learned that the Giant’s prophecy on the wall shows Atreus’s big name is Loki, and Kratos could be dead in the sequel. The other god of war, Tyr, will play an essential role in the sequel. Finally, Thor showed up in front of Kratos’s home, with lighting and his hammer, which means we will have a tremendous battle between Kratos and Thor, which should be thrilling and majestic. I’m going to enjoy it very much. Please play the God of War (2018) before you try God of War Ragnarök; you will have straightforward gameplay and a much better gaming experience.

The new God of War and God of War Ragnarök are different from the old series in many significant ways. One thing outstanding of all is the One-Shot Camera approach. In this way, players are more easily focused on the storytelling, and developers can put every detail there so they would not be missed. For example, when Atreus misses his mom, the father, Kratos, tries to hug his son, but he hesitates. Players can see that, which could show the character’s mind; this kind of thing evokes empathy in players, which enhances the overall storytelling and gaming experience. I believe in Ragnarök there will be more plots like this. God of War Ragnarök will be a treat to your eyes, ears, hands, and minds!

Due to the new camera setting, Santa Monica Studios also changed the combat system, adding RPG elements to the game. I can’t say is better, but it fits; no complaints about that. However, the new combat system has some weird stuff. Such as, in God of War, after you learn new skills, it will replace the previous one, which is more wanted by players. New skill literately makes Kratos weaker. In Ragnarök, developers hang it; players can learn every skill and choose which they want to use. In conclusion, God of War Ragnarök is not the game you want to miss; it should be in the textbook of game designers. I will write more about it when I finish the game.
