Rhythm Gamer

I am a game mania. Playing all different kinds of video games is something that I genuinely enjoy doing. However, there’s one particular type of game that has been a part of my life, and I seldom ever spend a day without playing it —— the rhythm game. I’m trying to figure out what makes this kind of game appealing.

Rhythm games are easy to begin with.

Recently, I have been playing two rhythm games: PJSK and Ensemble Stars Music. Although the user interface designs and interactive technologies have advanced, the mechanics of these games remain the same as the old ones: press, hold, or swipe the keypad rhythmically. Unlike other types of games, I don’t have to read a long storyline or follow complicated instructions. Rhythm games have substantially lower entry requirements for all age groups, while the challenge part is to press buttons at precise times throughout the game. On several challenging levels, I could not complete the game due to missing the button too many times. If I want to succeed in the more difficult levels, I must practice more in the comparable, easier ones.

The core value is the music.

Rhythm games frequently work with music companies like Sony, so the game maker could choose well-known songs and adapt them into rhythm game versions, which means the content of the game itself is guaranteed to be enjoyable and loved. Furthermore, I can listen to a selection of well-known songs in the game without searching through other music platforms. Because of my extreme sensitivity to sound, irregular noises and people’s voices can distract me while thinking or focusing on my project. Music has a set pace, and vocals become a part of the rhythm rather than something I must comprehend and listen to. At the same time, the music drowns out background noises and reduces the amount of information my brain must process. When I put on my headphones and start listening to it, I become more productive and concentrated. As a result, when I play a rhythm game, I can effortlessly and completely immerse myself in it, making it easier for me to finish them with more combos and higher scores.

My brain becomes more agile after playing.

I once discovered that after playing rhythm games, I could memorize information better. However, until I realized it hadn’t happened in my situation, I thought it was just a coincidence. My friend shared a video of her favourite eSports player; in that video, the player played a rhythm game to help him stay focused and agile before a game. According to research, multiple articles pointed out that a rhythm game called “Osu!” is frequently used by professional gamers as a warm-up or practice session before playing.

Overall, the easiest way to pass the time on busy days is to play rhythm games because they allow me to unwind within a song’s length.
