How pre-mdm shaped my view of the world

Written by Oscar, 2021 Cohort

Today I am writing this last journal entry to share my personal experience of the Pre-MDM program at the centre of Digital Media, for future students. In the beginning I felt a bit weird to attend class on zoom, because of the current pandemic situation, to keep everyone at a safe distance. Every Monday we had Jason, a great gaming teacher who works on presentations of UX, stories, or learning new software, and every Tuesday to Friday course will have another great technical English teacher, Aida, who teaches students pitch presentation techniques, technical writing, and reading comprehension skills. This set up will guide everyone in the Pre-MDM courses to success.

In my perspective of each course, I found the most challenging was completing project assignments with lots of hours spent in meetings with teammates, but our IAs, Simran and Iris made everything very easy for us and offered a lot of help. For the incoming students of 2022, here are some tips to successfully graduate in pre-MDM:

  • Try to attend all classes, finish all homework on time, and make a great impression on your teachers.
  • Keep your eye on the ball! Once you successfully complete the Pre-MDM course, you will be on a right track toward the MDM because you will have earned a lot of experience points from Aida and Jason, about mostly everything related to Digital Media and you will also get advice for your future career.

My general impression of the program is that it’s very fun and engaging with a lot of different activities in the class. My word of advice is to have fun, relax and communicate more to make friends with other students, connect and network with guest speakers, because they might be your teammates or supervisors in MDM. If you want more details and a deeper look into our cohort’s experience, read our blog at: http://blogs.thecdm.ca/premdm/

I hope this sharing experience is useful for all future pre-MDM students. Best of luck and I hope I will meet with you in the future, at the CDM. See you next year!
