A complicated mother-daughter relationship story

Netflix Series Ginny& Georgia launched its 2nd season recently. I wanted to write something about this story. (Spoiler alert)

Georgia uproots her family (Georgia, daughter Ginny, and son Austin) and moves them to a small wealthy town in Massachusetts when Georgia’s husband passes away. A private detective who believes her mother is a murderer arrives in the town and starts a conversation with Ginny. Ginny gradually put the pieces together. Georgia murdered her first two husbands! Georgia’s first husband was extremely controlling and tried to take custody of Ginny. As a result, Georgia poisoned him and fled. She found out that her second husband was molesting Georgia and ended up poisoning him. In the end, Ginny discovers her mother’s secrets. After embracing her, she escapes with her little brother.

It is hard to say who is right. Ginny and Georgia both make the best choices based on their perceptions. Georgia has always strived to be a good mother. she expects a mother-daughter relationship like best friends fighting against the world together. However, their perceptions differed from the beginning: Georgia believed that a “good mom” should protect her children from the terrible truth. Instead, Ginny thought a “good mom” should trust her children and disclose everything to them. The difference in perceptions becomes a direct point of conflict. With the secrets about Georgia’s past exposed, Ginny and Georgia’s relationship is rife with tension. Although she learns that her mother murdered her two husbands to protect her, she cannot agree. Ginny hates her mother for hiding and deception but finds herself increasingly becoming her mother, which makes her want to run away from her even more. She has mixed feelings, sympathy, anger, and fear for her mother. I can’t wait to see where Ginny and Georgia’s mother-daughter relationship will go in season 2.
