I love to stand in a strange place where nobody knows me, where I can take off my mask and just be myself, and all I have to do is enjoy the view and relax. That’s what traveling can bring me. I used to be a tourism lover until the pandemic era came, and everything was paused. However, modern technologies brought me a new idea, what if I can use digital media to make a trip happen?
Travel with Google maps
Google maps is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to do virtual travel. By dragging the small character icon and placing it at the location on the map, you can simulate “walking” around the place and be able to look around the actual scenery.
My best friend and I are learning about different countries, whenever we find some beautiful or interesting views around us. We send each other the coordinates so that we can share the same view through google maps.
Using VR glasses to simulate real travel
VR traveling has been a topic of concern even before the pandemic. A whole host of studios have developed VR travel software and many of which are mature enough to simulate it properly.
With the help of VR gears, a 360- degree of view that contains sound effects could be displaced. It’s a more immersive way to make virtual travel happen and which may lead to more possibilities in the future. Although acquiring a VR device could be very costly. Very soon we will all be able to resume our travels, but these digital alternatives are life-saving now.
