When I was a kid, I was reluctant to throw anything away. I didn’t have many toys compared with my friends, and I valued each of them.

One of my favourite toys is a stuffed bear. I got it as a gift from my uncle when I was about five years old. That little bear was about 20 cm tall, holding a red heart-shaped pillow in its hands. It was covered in grey-black short hair. Nothing was special about it but as far as I can remember, this little bear was the first plush toy in my life. I was very excited when I first got it and often talked and played with my bear. I even built a house and made some clothes for my bear.

One night, my sister who is a year and a half older than me took my bear and hid it. I was desperate and cried very sad, since I could not stand being separated from my little bear. I had a severe conflict with my sister and thought her behaviour was unforgivable at that time.

As I got older, I owned more toys. Interestingly enough, in my eyes, the new members of my toys family always seemed to be less important than the bear. When I entered high school, I gradually forgot about all my childhood toy pals. I’m grateful to have a stuffed bear as a childhood friend who accompanied me faithfully and never argued with me.

Written by Fang, 2021 Cohort To be honest, I am pretty nostalgic.
