At this moment, I have very mixed feelings. It has not been a comfortable year in the world, and I would even say, it has not been easy. From my perspective, pre-MDM is not just a preparatory course for English as a second language learners. There are a lot of professional projects to design, and you have to work with people who have entirely different working habits and experience in various professions, what we call cross-functional teams, to complete full project simulations from the ideation stage to the final delivery, and all the stages in between. Honestly, It was tough. However, it was a great experience. Every bit of hard work you put in will be worthwhile. I really appreciate it. Now, I’m very confident that I’m prepared to meet the challenges of MDM.

While it was tough, Pre-MDM also brought me a lot of surprises. I was surprised at how exciting and lively higher education could be. Aida’s courses have helped me a lot, whether it was English for Digital Media, Technical Writing, Pitch and Presentation or speaking and writing Boot Camps. These courses improved my technical English from multiple directions, which I did not expect before.

Moreover, I especially liked Jason’s class. He designed each class in a smooth and exciting way, with stimulating group work and discussion, accompanied by a lively form of explanation. He used each lesson to take us step by step to complete the final project together, which made me feel I was in good hands. In my past academic experience, school classes were uninteresting. Many teachers would be immersed in their professional world but didn’t know how to convey what they thought was the “sparkle” of knowledge to their students. Not to mention, most of the teachers I met were not passionate about teaching. But don’t worry, every teacher at Pre-MDM is warm and charming. They are also good at communicating the magic of knowledge to their students. You won’t be bored here.

I’m not qualified to talk about the secret to graduation, I haven’t got the final offer yet. But a piece of advice from me is that it’s essential to take every project assignment seriously. Because you will not only be responsible for yourself, but also for your classmates. Another good idea is not to be afraid to ask for help, whether from a teacher or a classmate. Everyone is pleased to help each other

here. The need for help does not mean that you are less capable, but rather that everyone has more opportunities to build a connection with you. People have different skills that they are good at. They also could learn something from you.

Now I am excited about MDM and enjoy doing group projects. I am proud to have met my Pre-MDM family. They are very responsible and professional. I hope to meet everyone in MDM again.

Written by Sifan, 2021 Cohort Almost a year of Pre-MDM studies is coming to an end.
