They give you company, they offer you endless love, and they are even able to heal you. In my case, I’m quite an animal lover, and I’m currently keeping three animals — two cats and a dog. I’ll talk about one of the cats and the dog.

The first pet I have is a Siamese cat. Initially, my mum was reluctant to keep him, yet I tried so hard to persuade her, and she compromised with the premise that I had to listen to whatever she said. However, after a few months, magic happened — she was sharing the video of the cat with a caption of “cute baby in our home!”. She succumbed to the charm of the kitty. It’s just how beautiful pets are. After two years, I started to wish for a puppy. I know it’s a little bit greedy, but puppies are different from kitties — they are enthusiastic, loyal, and clingy, and they can offer you something kitties can’t. And in fact, I was proven to be correct. The story went quite the same — my mum was not in favour of raising a puppy, I tried everything I could think of to persuade her, and now she is willing to do anything for the puppy. What a turn of events, right? The fact is that we’re attached to the dog just like the dog is attached to us. It just feels so warm when she is around you. When you come home at the end of the day, whether you smile at her or frown, she will greet you happily and bring you joy. She’s my little angel. Now I can’t imagine a life without her.

Written by Lan Xu 2022 Cohort This is a personal answer to one of the New York Times Learning Network

Continue readingWhat are the animals in your life?

[31
3
post-1768","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-voices-of-our-students","tag-premdm
["GET
